What is it?

The Criminal Record Certificate is a document that informs if a citizen has a criminal record.
Where to get it?

On the Federal Police website (content in Portuguese) or at any identification institute´s office.
When to obtain it?

The certificate is presented, for instance, by applicants approved in government biddings before they take office. It is valid for ninety (90) days from the date of issue. After this period, a new one must be issued.
Who can get it?

The interested party can request it in person. On the Federal Police website (content in Portuguese), it can be printed by any citizen who has the interested party´s data, requested on the website.
How much does it cost?

On the internet it is free of charge. A small fee is charged when requested through an office of the identification institute´s office.
How must the certificate be done?

When issued through the Federal Police´s website, its authenticity must be confirmed on the same electronic address. When requested through an identification institute´s office of the State, the interested party must present an original ID and Marriage Certificate, if that is the case.
